Hey Frank,
We have seen a vine around the Orlando area that has tubers on it from acorn size up to the size and shape of a small, slightly green potato. Looks like they could give someone a nasty wack when they fall, as they seem to be doning this time of year.
We were wondering. What are they?? Do they have any value, such as food, animal food etc??
Thanks for any ino you can provide.

Potatoes in the sky, I had to click this post when I read that, Gruffy. LOL
What do you call an orbiting potato peeler sent up in space by Russians?

As long as they're going after the flying potatoes, I have NO problem with them.

No, just a dent in my forehead. When I regained conciousness it had rolled off into the bush. I'll try to get a photo for tomorrow.

I found them...would you believe Air Potato is what they are. Dioscorea Bulbifera ... an import from Africa apparently. They even have a Potato Roundup in Gaineville Fla. these things are naturalized and a weed. Do a search and read up on them ... verry interesting.

I see they claim the wild ones are poisonous but when looking into it, I heard of someone in the southern states who had tame ones the size of soft balls.
We're to far north here for that sorta stuff to grow, but I would persue it if I were further south.
